Utilization of Unused Tickets

As a result of COVID-19, many departments are left with a lot of unused airline tickets.  If your tickets were booked through World Travel, we have a process in place to help maximize your return on these unused tickets -- even for those deemed non-refundable by the airlines.  Cancellation and refund policies vary greatly from airline to airline and these policies are constantly changing.  World Travel is continually monitoring all of the University's unused tickets and either refunding or extending rebooking deadlines whenever airlines rules change.  No action is required on your part for this to occur.  World Travel will reach out to you whenever new policies apply to unused ticket that you currently hold.

If a traveler calls World Travel to book, any unused ticket for that traveler will be reflected in the traveler's Concur profile and can be utilized according to current airline policies.  If no unused ticket is found, World Travel will check for any other unused tickets being held by the paying department, which could potentially be used by the current traveler.

If you would like to learn more about this process, we currently have a training video that discusses unused tickets and how they can be applied to the purchase of future airline reservations. Click here to view.
